Article - Social SkillsSocial skills such as interacting, sharing and group play affect every aspect of a child's life. And our own. These are learnt skills that we use to get on with others and operate within groups, teams, our local community and society. Social Development: Social development has two areas - the development of our own personality and becoming a socialised human being. Social development and skills influenced by the interaction that there is around a child and with a child. For example, the interactions they witness will have an important effect as well as their own interactions with their peers, family and other adults. These all help develop the child’s social-emotional skills and their understanding of how people should treat each other. This is one of those times where the example you set can be more important than you may wish. Social activities that can provide opportunity to develop social skills are:
